Summer is in full swing which means that the Coalition’s 5th Annual Joseph P. Caggiano Memorial Golf Tournament is just around the corner! This year’s tournament will once again be taking place at the beautiful Whiskey Creek Golf Club in Ijamsville, MD on August 23rd. The Coalition hosts this charity tournament in honor of our good friend and colleague, Joe Caggiano, who passed away five years ago at the young age of 48. Joe’s career in the government marketplace spanned 25 years, including serving seven years as COO of the Washington Management Group/FedSources, eight years of service in the Navy, and he most recently served as a principal at Reznick Government, a business advisory firm now known as CohnReznick Government.

As you may recall from previous years, proceeds from the tournament will support the Coalition’s endowment for a qualified veteran concentrating their studies in the field of US Government procurement and pursuing the JD/LLM degree or the interdisciplinary Masters degree at The George Washington University. Joe would be very proud to know that, through the generosity and kindness of the Federal procurement community, the Coalition will fulfill our $100,000 fundraising goal for the scholarship fund with the proceeds from this year’s tournament!

In-House Counsel Training, October 5

This class is a “must attend” for lawyers and corporate officials with significant contract management and compliance responsibilities in companies that have GSA Schedule contracts. GSA Schedule contracts offer a huge market opportunity. The GSA Schedule, including the delegated VA Schedules, is a $50 billion contracting program that all Federal agencies use to acquire commercial services and products. In some instances, state agencies can place orders against their contracts. These multiple year, government-wide contracts cover professional services, information technology, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, and a vast array of commercial products.

Of particular interest to in-house counsel and corporate executives, Schedule contracts have a pricing methodology, and disclosure requirements that are unique in Federal government contracting. The contracts provisions must be correctly understood, managed, and monitored to assure that your commercial enterprise realizes anticipated profits. Failure to do so can result in significant monetary, administrative, civil, and even criminal penalties.

This seminar will provide information and tools to help you understand the GSA/VA Schedule contracting program and provide insightful advice to your in-house clients and business partners.

 

Winning Business for Federal Contract Project Managers, October 18

This class is designed for program managers, project managers, and anyone who wants to understand how to support proposal development from positions in operations. In this class, you will discover how to grow your contracts and win more revenue by learning how to support business development (BD) and proposal efforts. Even if BD and proposals aren’t in your job description, winning contracts is essential to the growth of the company and everyone should be prepared to support that mission. In this course, you’ll learn what the business acquisition lifecycle is and how you can contribute to expanding current contracts and winning new work. This class, which will be held at Tower Club in Tysons Corner, will be taught by Brenda Crist, Proposal Manager and Writer at the Lohfeld Consulting Group, where she helps clients work with their staff and partners to create winning, well-written proposal solutions. She offers hands-on experience from leading and conducting systems and network management projects for many civilian and military clients.

 

Winning GWACs, IDIQs, and Task Orders for Federal Contractors, October 19

This class is designed for business development, capture management, and proposal management professionals as well as for company executives and operational managers, including project managers and technical professionals who participate in the process or anyone who needs to understand how to win the best vehicles and maximize revenues. The market for multiple award contracts (MACs) is rapidly changing with contract consolidation and category management. Learn how to target and win the best government-wide acquisition contract (GWAC) and indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract (IDIQ) vehicles and avoid empty vehicles with effective task order (TO) bids. In this class, students will learn about the different types of MACs and how to perform targeted capture and proposal activities to win MACs and TOs that are the best fit for your company. This class, which will be held at the Tower Club in Tysons Corner, will be taught by Lisa Pafe, Management Consultant at the Lohfeld Consulting Group, who brings 25 years’ experience in management consulting, marketing, business development, project management, and proposal management.

 

18th Annual Excellence in Partnership Awards Celebration, November 15

Once again, the Excellence in Partnership (EIP) Awards Celebration will honor federal and contractor organizations, individuals, and acquisition officials who have made significant contributions in promoting common sense, best value acquisition strategies and outcomes that utilize multiple award contracting vehicles and support the evolving mission needs of government. This year’s celebration will take place on November 15, from 6:00pm to 10:00pm at the Fairview Park Marriot in Falls Church, VA. I am excited to announce that we will be introducing updated award categories to recognize excellence in Innovation and Acquisition Streamlining. Nominations for the 2017 EIP Awards are now open, and may be submitted here.

 

Fall Training Conference, November 16

Following the EIP Awards Celebration, the Coalition will be hosting its 2017 Fall Training Conference on November 16, from 7:00am to 6:00pm at the Fairview Park Marriot in Falls Church, VA! Speakers will be discussing the status of critical legislation, acquisition reform, business outlooks, and more. Afterwards, we will be holding our much anticipated afternoon breakout sessions, which will offer a unique opportunity to get the latest information on the most significant contracts in the Federal marketplace.
