SUMMARY:Webinar: Impact of the Current Administration’s Tariff Policy Changes on Government Contractors\, April 10
DESCRIPTION:Since January 20th\, US trade policy and particularly our country’s imposition of tariffs on friends and adversaries has changed repeatedly\, making planning for several sectors of the economy (including government contractors) extremely difficult. Although making authoritative predictions about what will happen next is extremely difficult\, the Coalition for Common Sense in Government Procurement is pleased to announce its next webinar\, Impact of the Current Administration’s Tariff Policy Changes on Government Contractors\, where we will welcome three experts from Mayer Brown LLP to discuss important tariff-related issues for government contractors in these times. \nFirst\, if tariffs imposed by this administration increase a contractor’s costs\, when can the contractor seek compensation for increased costs\, and which situations should government compensation for tariff-related costs be expected? Luke Levasseur and Evan Williams will explain the basics on how contractors are likely to be compensated\, and what they should do to maximize that recovery. \nSecond\, Warren Payne\, a Senior Advisor with a deep understanding of trade and tariff policy\, will discuss the issues driving the current administration’s views\, and the players in the current administration who are likely to influence what comes next.  We hope you can join us for this timely webinar! \nTo register\, click here. For any questions regarding registration\, please contact Mady Whiting at Mady.Whiting@thecgp.org.

SUMMARY:BIOSECURE 2025\, Nov. 20
DESCRIPTION:Taking a page out of playbook used to establish the framework that excludes products of certain Chinese telecommunications companies from the federal market (e.g.\, the “Huawei ban”)\, the BIOSECURE Act would prohibit the federal government from obtaining biotechnology equipment or services from certain “biotechnology companies of concern\,” including Chinese biotechnology companies. Its restrictions are designed to affect Federal contractors and to reach down into the supply chain. While BIOSECURE was originally introduced last year and did not make it into law\, an updated 2025 version of the legislation has made it into the Senate version of the NDAA for FY 2026. With widespread bipartisan support\, it is quite possible that BIOSECURE will be signed into law before the end of this year. \nPlease join the Coalition for a webinar on November 20 from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM (ET) as we host attorneys from Hogan Lovells’ Global Regulatory practice. During this timely webinar\, the Hogan Lovells team of Joy Sturm\, Mike Druckman\, Timothy Bergreen\, and Ashley Roberts will outline what Federal contractors need to know about the Act\, covering key terminology and its scope of applicability. They will also speak to the broader geopolitical context driving the legislation and its implications within the biotechnology sector. \nTo register\, click here.
