Dear Members,
As we do every year, the Coalition takes out time from our regular blog to recognize the Thanksgiving holiday that we celebrate this week. To that end, I wanted to share with you a couple quotes that capture the meaning of this holiday from A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, one of my favorite Thanksgiving movies.
“We’ve got another holiday to worry about. It seems Thanksgiving Day is upon us.”
– Charlie Brown
“In the year 1621, the Pilgrims held their first Thanksgiving feast. They invited the great Indian chief Massasoit, who brought 90 of his brave Indians and a great abundance of food. Governor William Bradford and Captain Miles Standish were honored guests. Elder William Brewster, who was a minister, said a prayer that went something like this: ‘We thank God for our homes and our food and our safety in a new land. We thank God for the opportunity to create a new world for freedom and justice.’ ”
-Linus
“Thanksgiving is more than eating, Chuck. We should just be thankful for being together.”
-Marcie
From all of us at the Coalition, we wish you and your families the joys and blessings of this Thanksgiving Holiday!
The regular publication of the Friday Flash will continue on Friday, December 6th.
Sincerely,
Roger Waldron
