The Coalition for Common Sense in Government Procurement: A Reaffirmed Commitment

2024 marked the 45th anniversary of the Coalition’s founding, a significant milestone in our journey of advocating for sound federal procurement policy on behalf of the American taxpayer and our members. As we move into 2025 and look further ahead to our upcoming 50th anniversary, we are reenforcing our commitment to advancing common sense in government procurement by embracing the Coalition’s full name – The Coalition for Common Sense in Government Procurement. While this has always been the Coalition’s full name, this shift reflects our continued vision of an effective and efficient procurement system that delivers best value to both agency customers and the American taxpayer.

With the start of a new Administration, we have a unique opportunity to reaffirm the core values that have guided the Coalition for over four decades. The need for “common sense” in government procurement remains at the forefront, as does a federal acquisition framework that fosters transparency, prioritizes fairness, and drives innovation.

We continue to work closely with our members and government stakeholders to provide the latest and most critical policy insights through thought leadership, training conferences, forums, committee meetings, educational webinars, and more. As part of this effort, we are actively building out a robust calendar of events for the coming months, ensuring opportunities for engagement, education, and collaboration on key procurement issues and policies as they continue to evolve. We are also working with members to effectively communicate our recommendations to improve acquisition processes, programs, and requirements through our Government Procurement Efficiency List (GPEL).

As the 50th anniversary draws closer and we move forward under our full name, The Coalition for Common Sense in Government Procurement remains dedicated to serving as a leading voice in federal contracting, a nexus between government and industry, and a driving force for positive change.
