Register Today: Just 3 Weeks Left Until the Coalition’s 6th Annual Memorial Golf Tournament

The Dog Days of Summer are here, and that can only mean one thing, the Coalition for Government Procurement’s 6th Annual Joseph P. Caggiano Memorial Golf Tournament is just around the corner! With only three weeks remaining, it is time again for Coalition members to dust off their golf clubs, register their foursome, and coordinate their outfits for another beautiful day at Whiskey Creek Golf Club in Ijamsville, Maryland on Wednesday, August 22.

3rd Annual Best Dressed Team Award

Over the past three years, the Coalition has presented the “Best Dressed Team” Award to the foursome with the most creative, entertaining, and coordinated outfits. We have seen a lot of inspiring outfits with everything from stylish hats, to dapper pants, snazzy socks, and kilts! August 22 will be here before you know it, so start planning your outfits today!

Honoring Joe Caggiano

As excited as we are to see what everyone comes up with for their outfits, the real focus of this charity tournament is to honor our dear friend and colleague Joseph P. Caggiano. Six years ago, the Coalition lost much more than a Board Member when Joe passed away at the young age of 48. As those who knew him can attest, Joe brought an unmatched enthusiasm and optimism every day of his 25-year career in the government marketplace, including serving seven years as COO of the Washington Management Group/FedSources, eight years of service in the Navy, and most recently as a principal at Reznick Government, a business advisory firm now known as CohnReznick Government.

Joe Caggiano was a patriot. While in the Navy, he completed tours of duty onboard the USS Independence (CV62), at Navy Personnel Command, and as an instructor at Villanova University, where he earned an MBA and a B.S. in mechanical engineering and was an NROTC scholarship student. His love of country was reflected in his concern and support of our wounded veterans. Joe was the driving force behind the Coalition’s charity efforts to support our nation’s veterans, a tradition that we are so honored to continue with this year’s tournament named in his honor.

Supporting Veterans in Procurement

The tournament’s proceeds will support the Coalition’s endowment for a qualified veteran concentrating their studies in US Government procurement and pursuing the JD/LLM degree or the interdisciplinary Masters degree at The George Washington University. Joe would be very proud to know that, through the generosity and kindness of the Federal procurement community, last year the scholarship fund achieved a critical milestone: the naming of its first ever recipient, Tom Roltsch. Tom served four deployments in Afghanistan and Iraq with the Army Reserve and following his graduation from GWU, is pursuing his career with a leading Federal contractor. As anyone that knew Joe can attest, he would be delighted that we are supporting the professional development of the next generation of skilled professionals in Federal procurement.

Tournament Prizes and Sponsorship Opportunities

Help us honor Joe’s legacy by participating in and/or sponsoring this tournament. The tournament style is a four-player scramble with a maximum of 144 golfers. In addition to the fantastic pro shop gift certificates for the top three finishing teams, we will also be including four other prizes given away via raffle when you purchase mulligan tickets. These will include two Titleist 917 Drivers valued at $400 each and two Titleist Vokey Wedges valued at $100 each!

We have several exciting sponsorships available including reception sponsors and hole sponsors. Please click here to review sponsorship opportunities and contact Matt Cahill at mcahill@thecgp.org or 202-315-1054 with any questions or commitments.

The Coalition would like to extend a special thank you to this year’s sponsors:

We look forward to your support, and to a day filled with competition, camaraderie and remembrance.
