See You at Whiskey Creek on August 21st

In January of 2013, Joseph P. Caggiano passed away suddenly at the young age of 48. For the Coalition family, Joe was far more than just a Board Member. He was a caring husband, loving father, and a dear friend to all that knew him.

Over the course of his 25-year career in the government marketplace, including serving seven years as COO of the Washington Management Group/FedSources, eight years of service in the Navy, and most recently as a principal at Reznick Government, a business advisory firm now known as CohnReznick Government, Joe greeted every day with a sense of enthusiasm and optimism that was simply contagious. Colleagues could count on him, not only for his strategic business advice, but also for his steadfast support as a friend.

Joe was a patriot. While in the Navy, he completed tours of duty onboard the USS Independence (CV62), at Navy Personnel Command, and as an instructor at Villanova University, where he himself earned an MBA and a B.S. in mechanical engineering and was an NROTC scholarship student. His love of country was reflected in his concern and support of our wounded veterans. Indeed, Joe was the driving force behind the Coalition’s charity efforts to support our nation’s veterans, a tradition that we are so honored to continue with the 7th Annual Joseph P. Caggiano Memorial Golf Tournament on August 21st at the beautiful Whiskey Creek Golf Club in Ijamsville, Maryland!

As you may recall, in recent years, the tournament proceeds have supported the Coalition’s endowment for a qualified veteran concentrating their studies in the field of US Government procurement and pursuing the JD/LLM degree or the interdisciplinary Master’s degree at The George Washington University. Joe would be very proud to know that, through the generosity and kindness of the Federal procurement community, we have raised more than $125,000 in a little more than 3 years. As anyone that knew Joe can attest, he was the consummate coach and cheerleader and would be delighted that we are encouraging and supporting the professional development of the next generation of skilled professionals in Federal procurement.

Joe’s absence is still felt by those of us privileged to have known him. It is for this reason that we ask members to please help us honor Joe’s legacy by participating in and/or sponsoring this wonderful tournament. The tournament style is a four-player scramble with a maximum of 144 golfers (we were maxed out last year, so please register as soon as possible!). Please consider a sponsorship for this worthy cause and of course, we encourage you to put a team together as well for this day filled with competition, camaraderie, and remembrance. We have several exciting sponsorships available, including title sponsors, luncheon sponsors, beverage cart sponsors, awards/reception sponsors, hole sponsors, and many more with all budgets in mind. For additional details regarding sponsorship opportunities, please review our website.

If you have any questions, sponsorship commitments, or need assistance with registration and payment, please contact Matt Cahill at mcahill@thecgp.org or 202-315-1054.
