The Coalition for Common Sense in Government Procurement is the most effective voice for commercial companies selling in the Federal market.

On April 15, the President issued an Executive Order (EO), “Restoring Common Sense to Federal Procurement,” to reform the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). The EO launches a much-anticipated review of the FAR by the Office of Federal Procurement Policy (OFPP) and reduction in the number of FAR clauses to streamline the procurement process and lower barriers to entry to the Federal market.

The Coalition has launched a Government Procurement Efficiency List (GPEL) Webpage, which includes a white paper on exempting commercial acquisitions from burdensome clauses, detailed reform tables highlighting issues like contract duplication and MAS inefficiencies, and draft analyses of several FAR parts.

On April 16, the White House issued an EO, “Ensuring Commercial, Cost-Effective Solutions in Federal Contracts,” emphasizing the government’s preference for procuring commercial supplies and services.

On April 9, the President issued an Executive Order (EO), Modernizing Defense Acquisitions and Spurring Innovation in the Defense Industrial Base, directing the Defense Secretary to streamline DoD acquisition processes, prioritize commercial solutions and Other Transaction Authorities (OTAs), and review major defense programs for performance and alignment with mission priorities

On March 20, an Executive Order was signed that will centralize the procurement of “common goods and services” at GSA. GSA will also be responsible for all IT GWACs.
