Executive Orders Calls for Review of Federal Contracts

On February 26, President Trump signed an EO that directs agency heads to “review all existing covered contracts and grants and, where appropriate and consistent with applicable law, terminate or modify (including through renegotiation) such covered contracts and grants to reduce overall Federal spending or reallocate spending to promote efficiency and advance the policies of my Administration.”

Merit-Based Opportunity Executive Order and Federal Contracts

On January 20, the President signed an executive order (EO) “terminating diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the Federal workforce, and in Federal contracting and spending.” The EO directs the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to streamline the Federal contracting process to “enhance speed and efficiency, reduce costs, and require Federal contractors and subcontractors to comply with our civil rights laws.”
