The Coalition for Government Procurement is excited to have a busy schedule in the works for the remainder of the year! So far this fall, we have been fortunate to hold multiple engagements on a host of topics for our members, including this week’s meeting with Joanne Woytek, NASA SEWP Program Director, to discuss the SEWP VI Draft Request for Proposal. The turnout for the meeting was fantastic! Over 120 IT member firms attended in person and virtually for what was a meaningful dialogue on the draft RFP. Thank you to Joanne Woytek and her team for all their engagement.

Cybersecurity Update, October 12
In honor of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, we are happy to hold a joint virtual Business and Regulatory Issues (BRIC) and Cyber and Supply Chain Security Committee Meeting on October 12 at 11 AM ET. The meeting will be led by two cyber law experts, Stephen Lilly of Mayer Brown and Bob Metzger of Rogers Joseph O’Donnell, who will brief members on the White House’s efforts to harmonize cybersecurity regulations.

We also note that the cyber reporting rule that came out earlier this week and the Coalition will be seeking feedback from members for the purposes of submitting comments on the rule.
Webinar: VA Covered Drugs Price Updates, October 25
On October 25, Hogan Lovells’ Partners Allison Pugsley and Joy Sturm will be joined by Ted Karnezis of Ted Karnezis Consulting for a webinar on VA Covered Drug Price Updates. During the webinar, Allison, Joy, and Ted will cover what manufacturers need to prepare for in advance of the 2023-2024 Public Law Pricing Update season. Topics will include a Summary of the VA’s own training session and published guidance regarding the covered drug pricing updates, including an overview of relevant timelines and the types of disputes manufacturers may need to raise with the VA, best practices on modifying FSS contracts in a timely fashion, and more.

Webinar: What Contractors Need to Know about Upcoming Changes to NIST SP 800-171, November 7
We are pleased to co-host a webinar with AMSUS-SM on NIST 800-171 on November 7 at 12:00 PM ET. Our guest speaker will be Victoria Yan Pillitteri, a supervisory computer scientist in the Computer Security Division at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). During the webinar, Victoria will discuss what contractors need to know about the NIST SP 800-171 Guidance, its relationship to DoD and VA Authority to Operate (ATO) requirements, NIST’s efforts to update this guidance to protect against current and future cybersecurity threats, and what updates to the NIST SP 800-171 guidance means for contractors, especially small businesses.

Small Business Contracting Event, November 14
Mark your calendars for a new small business event taking place on November 14 from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM ET. This three-hour forum features two panels of government and industry subject matter experts who will provide updates on policies and programs impacting small businesses. The first panel will dive into the latest on small business policy and provide “A Small Business Policy, Program and Regulatory Year in Review.” The second panel, comprised of contracting professionals from both small and large businesses will brief attendees on best practices in subcontracting and what makes for a successful, sound business relationship.

As you have heard, the Coalition’s Fall Training Conference will take place on November 15-16 at the Fairview Park Marriott in Falls Church, Virginia. This year’s conference explores the theme of “What is Fair and Reasonable?” in the federal marketplace. Holiday Reception, December 13
After a great turnout last year, we are excited to announce that our holiday reception for members will be returning on December 13 at the Tower Club in Tysons, Virginia. We invite all members to join us for an evening of networking, relaxing, and reflecting on another successful year. The holiday party not only serves as a wonderful opportunity to enjoy each other’s company, but also features a special panel of procurement experts who will discuss the hottest trends in Federal contracting.

We are thrilled to already have a number of exciting events on the calendar for the first quarter of 2024!
In-House Counsel Training
The Coalition’s In-House Counsel training will be returning next year! The In-House Counsel class is a “must attend” for lawyers and corporate officials in companies that have GSA and VA Schedule contracts. Topics covered during the 2024 training will include Transactional Data Reporting, Commercial Sales Practices, domestic preferences, supply chain security, bid protests, sustainability, and ethics.
MAS Basic Training
Also returning in 2024 is the Coalition’s Multiple Award Schedule (MAS) Basic Training. This intensive, one-day workshop teaches the basics of the GSA’s MAS Program. The training provides the perfect opportunity to learn about navigating the price negotiation process, leveraging GSA’s tools, understanding the management and compliance of the Price Reduction Clause, the relative merits of the Commercial Sales Practices format versus Transactional Data Reporting, and more.
Healthcare Procurement Training
We are excited to announce that we will also be hosting a healthcare procurement training course in 2024 that will equip our members with the latest knowledge on key VA policies and programs impacting the federal healthcare contracting space. Stay tuned for more details on this new opportunity!
